NEIGHBORHOOD
This is one of the most prestigious areas close to the centre of Paris with many embassies, ministries, UNESCO, the Assemblée Nationale (Parliament), the Hôtel Matignon (Prime Minister’s residence) and of course the Eiffel Tower all within 5 to 10 minutes walk. Two splendid landscaped parks (Champs de Mars and Esplanade des Invalides) run down to the Seine, but there has a very local feeling thanks to the wonderful street market in rue Cler and numerous cafés and restaurants.
The numerous museums within 5 minutes walk include the Hôtel des Invalides (war museum with Napoleon’s tomb), Musée Rodin and the Musée du quai de Branly (primitive arts).
The Trocadéro, Musée Guimet (oriental art), Grand Palais and Petit Palais Musée, Palais de Tokyo (modern and contemporary art) and the Musée d’Orsay (nineteenth-century art) are all within 10 to 15 minutes walking distance.
